The opportunity

The Specialist, Resuscitation Product and Learning is a new position that will support all aspects of the planning, development, testing, evaluation and continuous improvement of Heart & Stroke resuscitation learning products. The Specialist will work closely with the Manager, Resuscitation Product Learning & Delivery and the Manager, Resuscitation Program Development to ensure the timely release, marketing and communication of new and revised learning products. The Specialist will assist with the evaluation of these new and existing learning products to ensure we are getting the product uptake and delivering what our network needs. This role will also collaborate with team members to identify opportunities to engage instructors and/or customers in order to increase the mission impact of Heart & Stroke.

You have strong communication skills and a background in research methodology, design and evaluation. You can solicit the right information from our stakeholders and articulate to the team the results and recommendations. 

You have strength and experience leading projects. 

You are a collaborator who can work with the team to determine evaluation criteria, create evaluation frameworks, select data collection methods and develop data collection tools, and prepare utilization-focused findings reports and recommendations. 

You are a self-learner interested in new technology and new learning opportunities.

Key responsibilities

 Product management and development 

  • Develop and implement strategies for maintaining an engaged instructor network 
  • Support the learning product management process by making recommendations that align with evaluation findings, stakeholder needs, and best practices in adult education
  • Assist in implementing project activities and recommended improvement to products
  • Consult on and support product testing throughout the product lifecycle

Product assessment and continuous improvement

  • Collaborate with team members to establish clear, measurable, impact-oriented learning program goals and outcomes
  • Engage instructor and student network in consultative processes and evaluations to inform program development, departmental priorities and effectiveness 
  • Develop and implement evaluation frameworks, data collection methods, tools and processes for learning products 
  • Make recommendations that align with evaluation findings, stakeholder needs, and best practices in adult education 


  • Write a wide variety of internal and external communications e.g. reports, presentations, announcements, correspondence 
  • Develop and assess innovative methods of engaging instructors, collecting feedback, and ensuring appropriate distribution of information. 
  • Assist resuscitation team members to leverage information gained through assessments as it applies to specific geographic and/or market base and communicate back to the instructor network

  • Degree in Health Science or a related field 

Experience and Skills 

  • At least two years of experience working on interdisciplinary project teams 
  • Experience in developing adult education & learning programs 
  • Experience developing and implementing evaluation strategies 
  • Previous work experience in a relevant health care field. Knowledge/experience in the resuscitation field an asset 
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills with a talent for communicating clearly, simply, and concisely in a mature and professional manner 
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to develop and nurture effective relationships with various stakeholders 
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to set priorities in the face of various demands and in accordance with the organizational strategic plan 
  • Excellent listening skills and ability to translate knowledge into opportunity 
  • Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, ability to problem solve 
  • Knowledge of quantitative and qualitative evaluation methods 
  • Knowledge of data analysis methodologies 
  • Operate with flexibility and speed in order to achieve results.
  • Able to work in a fast-paced environment 
  • Readiness to learn and experiment with new ideas 
  • Excellent knowledge and computer skills and ability to learn new software easily: Microsoft Office Suite, Excel, survey development software (Survey Monkey)
  • Familiarity with project management software, especially Wrike, an asset
