The opportunity

Heart & Stroke offers a hybrid work option. For this role, candidates can work from anywhere in Canada, and must be able to travel to the Toronto office when requested. 

This role owns the day-to-day reliability, security, and evolution of the organization’s digital workplace and productivity platforms, spanning Microsoft 365 and other approved SaaS/PaaS services. The position partners with business and Technology stakeholders to simplify work, reduce manual effort, and deliver scalable solutions through platform configuration, governance, enablement, and automation.  

The individual will align with business and Technology stakeholders to streamline work processes and minimize the amount of manual work involved in delivering scalable solutions through platform configuration/governance/enablement/automation. Success requires an engineering mindset: soliciting and understanding business requirements, identifying opportunities, identifying impacts, implementing secure and supportable improvements, and measuring the impact of delivered solutions. 

How you will make an impact every day 

Platform Engineering, Administration & Operations 

  • Administer, configure, and maintain productivity and collaboration platforms (including Microsoft 365 services such as SharePoint, Teams, OneDrive, Exchange Online, Power Platform, and related admin/security capabilities).   

  • Manage and support additional enterprise SaaS platforms and cloud applications beyond Microsoft 365 (identity integration, access models, settings, and operational support).   

  • Monitor health, performance, service limits, and licensing; manage lifecycle activities (upgrades, configuration changes, platform enhancements).   

  • Maintain platform governance, retention policies, labeling/tagging, access control, and information management standards for all platforms according to compliance and security requirements.   

  • Ensure the continued stability of all platforms, through proactive operations: monitoring, runbook processes, standard changes, and continuous service improvements.   

Automation & Integration Engineering 

  • Identify, prioritize, and deliver automations on productivity and collaboration platforms that reduce manual work, improve quality, and streamline cross-team processes (inside and outside Microsoft platforms).  

  • Design, build, and maintain production level workflows, integrations, and reusable components using tools and platform native APIs.   

  • Define automation standards: naming, environments, error handling, monitoring, documentation, lifecycle, and support model to ensure fragile one-off workflows are never a permanent liability.  

  • Modernize legacy/manual processes into scalable, cloud-first approaches using approved tools and patterns.   

  • Leverage AI capabilities (for example Copilot, Copilot Studio, and other approved AI services) to improve knowledge access, self-service support, and productivity workflows where it is secure and delivers value.  

Solution Delivery and Stakeholder Engagement 

  • Perform discovery with business stakeholders; translate requirements into technical solution designs and delivery plans.   

  • Recommend solutions based on platform capabilities, best practices, governance, and supportability.   

  • Maintain a roadmap/backlog for workplace improvements and automation initiatives; communicate progress and outcomes.  

  • Identify and assess user, operational, and business impacts of proposed solutions or service prior to implementation.  

Requirements Gathering & Stakeholder Engagement 

  • Facilitate discovery sessions with business stakeholders to review goals, pain points, and process gaps.  

  • Translate business needs into actionable technical specifications and solution designs.  

  • Identify possible solution options and make recommendations based on industry best practices and platform capabilities.  

  • Collaborate with IT security, compliance, and application teams to align requirements.  
    Support roadmap planning for collaboration, productivity, and automation initiatives.  

Support and Service Enablement 

  • Provide Tier 2/Tier 3 support for productivity platforms and related integrations/automations; troubleshoot complex issues and coordinate vendor escalation.   

  • Develop and maintain operational documentation (runbooks, knowledge articles, support guides) and ensure solutions are supportable long-term.   

  • Develop self-service resources and adoption materials; coach teams on best practices for collaboration, information management, and responsible automation.  

  • Maintain application management and patching tools.  

  • Create and maintain documentation including support guides, runbooks, and knowledge base articles.  

  • Maintain service-level expectations for response and resolution times.  

Security, Governance, and Compliance 

  • Ensure that collaboration platforms are designed and operated with an understanding of privacy, data sensitivity, and regulatory implications, particularly in environments handling confidential or regulated information.   

  • Make recommendations to security/compliance teams to enforce and execute controls (for example DLP, MFA, conditional access) and maintain audit readiness through documented decisions and configurations.  

Cross-Functional Collaboration and Vendor Management 

  • Collaborate across Technology teams to deliver integrated solutions spanning M365 and other enterprise SaaS platforms.   

  • Manage vendor relationships/escalations and provide input on licensing optimization and strategic investments.  

Who we need 

Education 

  • Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Computer Science, Information Technology or related study. 

  • Microsoft 365 Certified: Fundamentals (MS-900). 

  • Microsoft 365 Administrator (MS-102) desired. 

Experience 

  • 5+ years of experience administering, configuring, and engineering Microsoft 365 platforms in an enterprise environment.  

  • 5+ years of experience managing and designing SharePoint Online solutions, including information architecture, permissions models, governance controls, and operational support.  

  • 3–5 years of experience managing Exchange Online, including configuration, service health, and integration with identity and compliance controls.  

  • Demonstrated experience engineering platform configurations, standards, and operating practices to improve reliability, security, and supportability.  

  • 2+ years of experience designing, building, and supporting solutions using Microsoft Power Apps, Power Automate, and Microsoft Forms.  

  • Hands-on experience engineering workflows, integrations, or system interactions that reduce manual effort and improve operational quality.  

  • Experience working with identity, access management, and security controls (e.g., Entra ID, Conditional Access, Purview) in collaboration with security or compliance teams.  

  • Exposure to Microsoft Copilot and/or Copilot Studio, with experience enabling or supporting AI assisted workflows or knowledge access.  

  • 3+ years of experience working with web technologies and modern frameworks (HTML, CSS, ReactJS) in support of platform customization, extensions, or integration scenarios.  

  • Experience working in environments with limited automation, documentation, or established standards, and contributing to the creation of new patterns, practices, or operational foundations.  

  • Experience designing and operating collaboration platforms with an understanding of privacy, data classification, access controls, and regulatory considerations in sensitive or regulated environments.  

Skills  

  • Knowledge of Microsoft applications including but not limited to Microsoft 365 ecosystem administration for Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive, Copilot, Copilot Studio, Power Platform, Loop, Exchange Online.  

  • Experience creating and supporting automation scripts using Powershell & Azure CLI. 

  • Experience creating solutions with HTML, CSS, ReactJS. 

  • Experience creating solutions with Microsoft Forms, PowerApps, Power Automate, PowerBI. 

  • Experience with Azure Cloud infrastructure and services an asset. 

  • Documenting design and configuration of solutions. 

  • Knowledge of database management tools (SQL). 

  • Troubleshooting operational applications and resolving issues. 

  • Unit testing solutions to ensure minimal defects. 

  • Strong project planning and project management skills, negotiation skills, problem solving and analytical skills. 

  • Experience with Jira software package an asset. 

  • Solid understanding of system configurations and data flow. 

  • Strong verbal and written communication and presentation skills to effectively communicate and partner with technical and non-technical stakeholders across the organization. 

  • Tenacity to coordinate resolution of reported issues. 

  • Excellent attention to detail. 

  • Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced and constantly changing environment. 

  • Ability to create or enhance support documents and quick reference guides on assigned topics. 

  • Bilingualism (English/French) is considered an asset.

This role offers a hiring range of $80,000 to $100,000, aligned with our compensation framework and your professional background.
