The opportunity
Heart & Stroke offers hybrid work options. For this role, candidates can work from anywhere in Canada.
The Platform Engineering Senior Manager leads a team of business analysts and platform engineering resources, accountable for the technology selection, planning, delivery, evolution, and operational excellence of Heart & Stroke’s enterprise digital platforms.
The role plays a significant leadership role in enterprise platform assessment and selection, including technical due diligence, architecture fit, integration approach, scalability, security, and transition considerations across current and emerging platform domains.
The role has primary near-term accountability for leading the technology planning, migration, and operational transition to a modern CMS/Digital Experience Platform (DXP), in support of the organization’s enterprise Constituent and Mission Impact strategy. In parallel, the role contributes to enterprise CRM roadmap development, driving delivery, and prepares the platform engineering function to support additional enterprise platforms, including HRIS (Human Resources Information System) and grant management systems, as the portfolio expands, applying platform engineering leadership, architecture, and delivery patterns to rapidly assess, structure, and scale these domains.
Working in close collaboration with the Director, Application & Platform Engineering, this role provides hands-on technical leadership across platform solutioning, architecture, integration, and delivery. The Senior Manager leads the end-to-end execution lifecycle, from discovery and design through development, testing, deployment, and transition to operations, ensuring platforms are scalable, secure, maintainable, and aligned with enterprise architecture and business objectives.
This role operates at the intersection of business and technology. Business teams own service outcomes and requirements, while this role is accountable for the underlying technology platform strategy, including platform selection (from a technical perspective), architecture, integration, scalability, and ongoing technical delivery and operations.
The role combines hands-on engineering leadership with people leadership, guiding teams through platform migrations and implementations while working cross-functionally with Application Engineering, Data, Security, Infrastructure & Operations, and business stakeholders across the enterprise, including product, fundraising, mission, and marketing.
As the platform portfolio grows, this role is expected to help scale the platform engineering function, in close collaboration with the Director, by building and structuring leadership across platform domains to ensure clear ownership, effective delegation, and sustained delivery across enterprise platforms.
The ideal candidate brings strong experience leading complex platform migrations (particularly CMS/DXP), deep platform engineering and architecture expertise, and the ability to operate across multiple enterprise platforms (including CRM and Salesforce Marketing Cloud) while building and scaling teams in a fast-evolving environment.
